Orsolya Marton, Simon Regős: The Foreign Devil Following the adventurous life of Jenő Lekcsör Cholnoky JENő: Daniel Uivaroși Rap: Gergő Filep Music: Boca Hunor-Lehel Scenography: Zsófia Polacsek Poster: Tamás Fogarassy Light design: Júlia Sipos Video design: Csaba Dénes Dramaturge: Orsolya Marton Director: Simon Regős Special thanks: Péter Kárpáti, Gebe, Lilla-Alíz Stan, Zsolt Csepei, Mária Albert, Péter Polacsek, Rei Szinok SYNOPSIS: The soul bell strikes three: I have to leave here. The salt water soaks my clothes. It stings my skin, the scratches on it. I stand waist-deep in the sea, the seagulls fly dangerously low. Behind me I hear a scream, a family shelter is calling back its stray child. I don’t turn back. Above me the moon snarls, “don’t stare” – it whispers in my ear. I sink up to my neck. Jenő Cholnoky (1870-1950) was a university professor, traveler, and outstanding geographer of the 20th century. Our monodrama freely interprets his writings, in which he speaks about his private life and travels. This is not a biographical performance: neither humanly nor theatrically did we strive to recreate Jenő Cholnoky’s life and personality exactly on stage! We sought answers to how, as a twenty-year-old young man, we can connect to his personality and his experiences in the world, and freely associate them. The post-dramatic nature of the performance asks the viewer to do the same: dare to adventure! The performance was created within the framework of the multi-annual program Beyond Fairy Tales. The program was supported by the National Cultural Fund Directorate (AFCN). The program does not necessarily reflect the position of the National Cultural Fund Directorate. AFCN is not responsible for the content of the program, nor for the use of the results. The beneficiary of the funding is fully responsible for these.

Full description in the original language

Marton Orsolya, Regős Simon: Az idegen ördög Lekcsör Cholnoky Jenő kalandos élete nyomán JENŐ: Uivaroși Daniel Rap: Filep Gergő Zene: Boca Hunor-Lehel Látvány: Polacsek Zsófia Plakát: Fogarassy Tamás Light design: Sipos Júlia Video design: Dénes Csaba Dramaturg: Marton Orsolya Rendező: Regős Simon Külön köszönet: Kárpáti Péter, Gebe, Stan Lilla-Alíz, Csepei Zsolt, Albert Mária, Polacsek Péter, Szinok Rei SZINOPSZIS: A lélekharang hármat üt: nekem innen el kell menni. A sós víz átitatja ruháimat. Csípi a bőrömet, a karcolásokat rajta. Derékig süllyedve állok a tengerben, a sirályok vészesen alacsonyan repülnek. Mögöttem sikolyt hallok, családi menedékház hívja vissza kóbor gyermekét. Nem fordulok vissza. Fölöttem a Hold vicsorog, „úgysem mered” – suttogja fülembe. A programot a Nemzeti Kulturális Alap Igazgatósága (AFCN) támogatta. A program nem feltétlenül tükrözi a Nemzeti Kulturális Alap Igazgatóságának álláspontját.
