Orsolya Marton, Simon Regős: The Foreign Devil A Lekcsör production based on the adventurous life of Jenő Cholnoky JENŐ: Daniel Uivaroși Rap: Gergő Filep Music: Hunor-Lehel Boca Set design: Zsófia Polacsek Poster: Tamás Fogarassy Lighting design: Júlia Sipos Video design: Csaba Dénes Dramaturg: Orsolya Marton Director: Simon Regős Special thanks: Péter Kárpáti, Gebe, Lilla-Alíz Stan, Zsolt Csepei, Mária Albert, Péter Polacsek, Rei Szinok SYNOPSIS: The death knell tolls three: I have to leave here. The salt water soaks through my clothes. It stings my skin, the scratches on it. Standing in the sea up to my waist, the seagulls fly dangerously low. Behind me I hear a scream, the family shelter calls its wandering child back. I do not turn back. Above me the Moon snarls, "you won't dare anyway" – it whispers in my ear. I sink up to my neck. Jenő Cholnoky (1870-1950) was a university professor, traveller and one of the outstanding geographers of the 20th century. Our monodrama freely interprets his writings, in which he speaks about his private life and travels. This is not a biographical performance: neither humanly nor theatrically did we aim to recreate Jenő Cholnoky's life and person precisely on stage! We sought answers to how, as twenty-something young people, we can connect to his person and the experiences he gained in the world, and freely associate with them. The post-dramatic nature of the performance asks the same of the audience: wander boldly! The performance was created within the multi-year programme "Beyond the Fairy Tales".

Full description in the original language

Marton Orsolya, Regős Simon: Az idegen ördög Lekcsör Cholnoky Jenő kalandos élete nyomán JENŐ: Uivaroși Daniel Rap: Filep Gergő Zene: Boca Hunor-Lehel Látvány: Polacsek Zsófia Plakát: Fogarassy Tamás Light design: Sipos Júlia Video design: Dénes Csaba Dramaturg: Marton Orsolya Rendező: Regős Simon Külön köszönet: Kárpáti Péter, Gebe, Stan Lilla-Alíz, Csepei Zsolt, Albert Mária, Polacsek Péter, Szinok Rei SZINOPSZIS: A lélekharang hármat üt: nekem innen el kell menni. A sós víz átitatja ruháimat. Csípi a bőrömet, a karcolásokat rajta. Derékig süllyedve állok a tengerben, a sirályok vészesen alacsonyan repülnek. Mögöttem sikolyt hallok, családi menedékház hívja vissza kóbor gyermekét. Nem fordulok vissza. Fölöttem a Hold vicsorog, „úgysem mered” – suttogja fülembe.
